MAS condemns the terrorist bombing in Boston and offers prayers to the families of the victims

(Washington, DC – April 15, 2013) – The Muslim American Society (MAS) offer their thoughts and prayers to the families of the victims in the Boston Marathon bombing which took place this afternoon and hope for a speedy recovery for those who were injured. MAS strongly condemn this violent and terrorist act and hope the perpetrators will swiftly be apprehended and brought to justice.

“We are saddened by the loss of innocent lives in this abhorrent act of terrorism. We stand with the families of the victims in this difficult time and offer our prayers to the entire Boston community” said Nadeem Siddiqi, National Chairman of MAS.

“The Muslim American Society is mobilizing our community for a blood drive and sending volunteers for help and assistance.” said MAS Executive Director, Mazen Mokhtar.

“We condemn all acts of violence and terrorism.” said Oussama Jammal, Chairman of Public Affairs and Civic Engagement of the Muslim American Society (MAS-PACE), “No cause can be served by the use of violence and the killing of innocent people.”

MAS-Boston and the Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center are working with the Boston authorities and the police department in offering any assistance needed. Local relief efforts are also coordinated with Islamic Relief and other national and local organizations.

MAS-PACE is a division of the Muslim American Society (MAS) organized as a civic and educational organization. Its primary purpose is to organize and mobilize the American Muslim community to participate in public affairs and civic activities on a non-partisan basis, and to activate a new generation of community activists.
