MAS Expresses Solidarity with the Victims of the Recent Hurricanes in the US, the Caribbean Islands and the Earthquake in Mexico.

(Washington, DC. , 9/21/17) The Muslim American Society expresses it deepest solidarity with the victims of the recent hurricanes Harvey, Irma, Jose and now Maria that have wreaked havoc on the Southern United States and the Caribbean. Our greatest sympathies are also with our neighbors in Mexico City who suffered a devastating earthquake this week. Our heartfelt condolences are with the families and loved ones of the people who lost their lives.

The loss of lives and extensive damage to property and means of livelihood from these natural disasters will put a toll on these communities for a very long time to come. There are many ongoing relief efforts on the ground and in neighboring communities that are being mobilized to support the victims. We urge the greater American Muslim community to support these efforts with their cash and in-kind donations, and through prayers for the victims and their families, many who have lost everything.

We pray that those who remain unaccounted for are reunited with their families and loved ones in good health, and that the worst days of these natural disasters are behind us. We also pray for God’s mercy and guidance for these communities as they rebuild their lives.
