10/3/2015 The Muslim American Society (MAS) extends its deepest condolences to the family of one of the American Muslim community’s pioneers, Dr. Jamal Barzinji. Dr. Jamal Barzinji, President and founding member of the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT), passed away on Saturday, September 26th and is survived by his wife, 6 children, 14 grandchildren, and the innumerable people whose lives he touched.
Dr. Jamal was one of the Muslim community’s instrumental builders and helped establish many organizations that include, but are not limited to, think-tanks, financial, educational, political, and charitable institutions. He was deeply committed to building sustainable faith-based communities that would find solutions to contemporary challenges. He urged Muslims to examine “what collective moral responsibility we have, as a community of faith, to build a better America…”
To God we belong and to Him we all shall return. Dr. Jamal’s life was dedicated to the service of God. He performed his life’s work with excellence and the highest of standards. May God’s mercy and blessings be with Dr. Jamal, elevate his rank to the highest level in the Heavens, and provide his family and those he left behind with patience and healing.
