MAS Youth (MY) is the department of the Muslim American Society (MAS) which serves young people throughout the United States. We believe that young Americans, with the right tools, skills, and knowledge, have the potential to bring about positive change in their communities.
We identify ourselves as a movement of American youth and young adults who aspire to answer the call of our Creator as put forward in the Divine Scriptures:
“And let there arise from among you a group of people inviting to all that is good and forbidding all that is evil. It is they who will attain true success.” (Qur’an 3:104)
We work with young people to inspire them to understand, apply, and advocate divinely ordained values in the service of the common good. Our core values are service, equality, and justice.
Our programs engage young people, ages 15 to 30, through educational, spiritual, recreational, and social activities. These programs are designed and run by the youth, with the guidance of mentors who share their experiences and provide valuable feedback...
MY Campus Services recognizes the college experience can be a transformational period in the lives of youth. Linking the importance of activism on and off campus is essential to developing life-long Islamic activists and not merely four-year MSA members. MAS Youth is in a unique position to nurture this link.
MY Retreat is a great way to provide tarbiya to our youth in a fun and exciting environment. The change in the environment allows for a level of dedication and seriousness, and if the program is done right, it can build character and tarbiya unlike any other MY project.
MY Discover seeks to provide quality lectures, seminars, and workshops to promote intellectual thought and education growth for the youth.
MY Give helps display the relationship between faith and activism. As demonstrated in our prophetic model, the goal of this project is to mobilize young people and instill the Islamic spirit of social responsibility.
MY Revive consists of spiritual programs and events that provide youth an opportunity to strengthen our relationship with Allah through prayers, inspirational lectures, and bonding activities. Many who attend such events describe it as a life altering experience where they emerge from it feeling much closer to their Creator and feeling the need to be mindful and thoughtful of others.
MY Mentor is an essential aspect of tarbiya, as it helps develop young youth workers by providing them role models from whom they can learn. This project will bridge the gap between the older and younger generations. It will nurture their relationship for one another, teach the mentors patience and understanding, and teach youth love and respect.
MY Sports promotes healthy bodies, strong character, and sound minds. Sports are a very important part of the lives of many youth growing up in America. It not only helps build confidence, teamwork, and companionship, but it is also a great way to relate to youth of other faiths in a positive way.
MY Talent promotes creative talent and encourages youth to utilize their skills and talents in their expression of Islam. This project will help build confidence and creativity in areas that are critical for the future generations of Muslims in this society.
MY Invite seeks to engage local youth workers with their communities in building meaningful relationships with people of other faiths, as well as help give the society a real understanding of Islam.

An annual online video series produced by MAS Youth during the month of Ramadan. It is a series of educational and motivational reflections featuring various speakers across the country. This year’s season will feature 15 episodes (an episode every other day) on the 40 Hadith compiled by Imam Nawawi.
“In the Shade of Ramadan” began as a humble project in 2006 and has now, by the blessing of Allah (swt), reached it’s sixth season in Ramadan 2013.
